Jachuku Omotayo is a multidisciplinary design practice exploring the relationship between clothing, identity, material, and cultural memory.
Through experimental construction, unconventional materials, and narrative-driven design, Jachuku approaches garments as objects of expression—balancing function with transformation, history with imagination, and traditional techniques with new possibilities.
CONVERSE ALL STAR PROJECT
Created through the Converse All Stars program, this project explored fashion as a medium for storytelling, material experimentation, and cultural expression.
The work culminated in a live fashion show and was later exhibited during Black History Month at Converse’s SoHo flagship store in New York City.
KINGPINS NYC
FUTURE DENIM MAKERS LAB
Created for the Future Denim Makers of America Lab at Kingpins NYC, this project examines denim through the lens of Black labor, craftsmanship, and American workwear. '
Using reverse denim, exposed construction, contrast topstitching, and reconstructed details, the garments transform familiar workwear codes into a contemporary expression of identity, history, and authorship.
GEO COLLECTION
GEO is an exploration of shape, structure, and material—using geometry to reconsider how garments interact with the body.
Denim, fleece, mesh, and reclaimed materials are cut, layered, and reconstructed to create unexpected silhouettes, revealing new relationships between form, texture, and movement.
